AEMT Awards – Rising Star Award Winner!

Congratulations to our Machine Shop Manager Ryan on receiving the Rising Star Award at the AEMT awards!

The Rising Star is awarded to junior employees who have made a significant contribution to a company and/or the industry.

Ryan Davis is a 21 year old engineering enthusiast who started at Rotamec on the apprenticeship scheme in August 2012. Rotamec have long realised that the best way to get the strongest talent into the industry is to grow their own and with school leavers looking at other avenues than University to get into full time employment the apprenticeship programme has become an excellent way for individuals like Ryan to achieve this. Ryan has received a rounded training programme including day release at Bridgwater College allowing him to obtain a level 3 NVQ diploma in CNC Machining as well as learning and earning on the job.

In 2016, Ryan completed this course and was promoted to the Machine shop supervisor and now manages a team of 2 other machinists. Ryan’s duties include, visiting site where needed, ordering, skilfully producing CAD drawings, operating our CNC machines, project work and quoting to name a few.

Ryan is a fantastic example of how effective the apprenticeship scheme can be. He is a hardworking, passionate and determined young man who is a credit to the youth of today especially those within the engineering industry.

In addition to the Rising Star Award, Rotamec were also finalists for Contributions to Skills & Training & Technical Innovation of the Year Project!

“Ryan is a fantastic employee and is a great asset to our company. He has exceeded all expectations and has met every target that we have set him. He is extremely hard working and always gives 100% at everything he does. Ryan has been a great example of how successful apprenticeships can be. Since starting with us at just 16 years old on our apprenticeship scheme to five years later and being a machine shop manager is a fantastic achievement. I am excited to see Ryan progress further within the business as we have high hopes for his future”
