Rotamec operates extensive workshop facilities and highly responsive on-site teams in the South, South West and South Wales. We provide a complete engineering service – whether refurbishing a unit on a tight deadline, carrying out planned maintenance or sourcing replacement equipment and components fast. Our experienced engineers and electricians ensure an optimum solution for every customer. With up to 10 tonne capacity cranage, dedicated testing facilities, machining, in-house workshops, on-site inventory and teams that can respond to emergencies within hours ensure we offer a complete package.

Our history

Founded in May 2000, Rotamec has grown over 20 years from 2 employees to 64 working across three branches located in Cheddar, Exeter and South Wales. The business was established on the principle of providing a high quality 24-hour repair service to customers. Adaptability was a key advantage for Rotamec – ensuring that challenging projects could be met with innovative services and solutions.

Initially started as a motor rewind and repair business, by 2003 Rotamec had grown to also provide services for wider power transmission applications. Rotamec became members of The Association of Electrical and Mechanical Trades (AEMT) in 2002 and shortly afterwards achieved ISO 9001 and UKAS accreditation. In 2019, Rotamec was awarded the ‘Contribution to Skills & Training’ Award by the AEMT for its grassroots apprentice training initiative. In May 2020, the company celebrated its 20th anniversary.

Managing Director

After a successful career working for multiple engineering companies, Simon founded Rotamec in May 2000. In the space of 20 years, Simon has expanded Rotamec from one-man to an organisation of 65 employees with branches operating throughout the UK. Having implemented a 24/7, 365 days-a-year service from the very beginning, he has been involved in every aspect of Rotamec during its growth. Championing an adaptable service and opportunities for young engineers, Simon has overseen a strategy of sustainable reinvestment that has brought success to the company he started.

Paul Pearce

Sales Director

Paul is responsible for the entire sales process and structuring at Rotamec. Having chosen sales as a career path in his mid-twenties, Paul spent two years working in Germany, where he learnt German as a second language. Then, Paul progressed to the role of sales director, growing businesses to annual turnovers of millions. Joining Rotamec in July 2019, he is responsible for three branches as well as 11 sales and marketing staff – with the aim to exponentially grow the business over the next two years.

Sales & Marketing Manager

Marketing engineering has long been Harriot’s specialty, having cut her teeth at an established compressor/vacuum manufacturer. Responsible for everything marketing related at Rotamec, including strategy and content generation, Harriot has organically grown publicity surrounding the business to create new opportunities and enable expansion. Having worked at Rotamec for 5 years, Harriot also manages marketing for key distribution partners of the business.

Senior Technical Sales Manager

With a track record at Rotamec of over 20 years, Alan has progressed from working on the shop floor as mechanical engineer and motor rewind specialist. Subsequent stints as a works supervisor and a works manager were followed by his appointment as branch manager at Cheddar prior to taking on his current role. Throughout his career, Alan has been heavily involved in technical project work for customers in multiple sectors, bringing a wealth of expertise garnered from his hard work in the industry.

Branch Manager Exeter

A highly qualified mechanical engineer, Jonathan began his career at Avimo Ltd in the mid-1980s. As an optical and mechanical fitter, he carried out the assembly and inspection of military gun sights. Moving to motor specialists Jarvis & Evered in 1994, Jonathan worked as an electrical and mechanical fitter, rewinder and machinist before rising to workshop foreman. He left this supervisory role in 2007 to join Rotamec, overseeing all operational aspects at the fast-paced Exeter branch. Beyond these responsibilities, he manages branch performance and targets – working closely with senior management.

Branch Manager South Wales

For over 45 years, Hugh has been working in the engineering repair trade. After an apprenticeship at EPMS Rewinds Ltd, he founded his own business, Competitive Rewinds, in 1984 – which he sold to Pumpserv Ltd. He stayed with what became Pumpserv Rewinds for another three years. Next, Hugh founded Pontypool Rewinds Ltd in November 1989, operating the businesses for almost 30 years before joining Rotamec in March 2019. Managing the branch he founded, Hugh is responsible for all day-to-day repair and sales jobs that pass through.

Store Manager

In his role, Matthew is responsible for controlling stock levels, receiving spares, customer items and organising deliveries. Extensive experience working in the motor trade as a parts advisor provided perfect preparation for managing inventory and logistics. Matthew worked at a Vauxhall dealership for seven years and a Mercedes centre for eight years, before moving to the Mercedes commercial truck department for a further two years. After 17 years in the motor trade, he changed career path, joining Rotamec as a store assistant before being appointed as manager.

Claire Pearson

Financial Director

Responsible for all financial aspects of Rotamec, Claire brings 27 years of industry experience to her role. Claire joined the business during its inception in 2000 and has played a key role in its expansion to 62 staff across three sites. Her responsibilities include revenue reporting, monitoring all transactions, improving financial processes, ensuring legislative compliance, payroll and companywide budgetary planning. She also supervises her financial team, helping to facilitate day to day operations at Rotamec. Additionally, Claire maintains positive relationships with service providers and contractors, such as banks and accountants.
